During these troubled times the Killaloe Diocese JPIC committee encourages all parishioners to pray for peace in our world. This year has seen a dramatic rise in terror attacks throughout our world and the loss of life is disgraceful and shocking.
God of all, why is there crying? Let us hear the cries of those whose lives have been changed irreparably through the evil of terrorism and respond with love.
God of all, who is praying? Let us pray for the young lives being lost, for the hopes and dreams cut short, for the families who are broken apart, asking for comfort and for justice. Father in Heaven, listen to us, hear us and grant us your peace.

Prayer for Grandparents

Lord Jesus,
You were born of the Virgin Mary,
the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne.
Look with love on grandparents the
world over.
Protect them! They are a source of
enrichment for families, for the Church
and for all society.
Support them! As they grow older,
may they continue to be for their families
strong pillars of Gospel faith,
guardians of noble domestic ideals,
living treasures of sound religious
Make them teachers of wisdom and
courage, that they may pass on to future
generations the fruits of their mature
human and spiritual experience.

Lord Jesus,
help families and society to value the
presence and role of grandparents.
May they never be ignored or excluded,
but always encounter respect and love.
Help them to live serenely and to feel
welcomed in all the years of life which
you give them.
Mary, Mother of all the living,
keep grandparents constantly in your care,
accompany them on their earthly
pilgrimage and, by your prayers, grant
that all families may one day be reunited
in our heavenly homeland,
where you await all humanity for the
great embrace of life without end.

On Sunday last June 12th ...A limestone plaque was unveiled on the site of the Aylroe Cillín, the site where many infants were buried. Mass was also celebrated by Very Rev. Fr. Tom McGrath. A large gathering of locals from the neighbouring townlands; Aylroe, Erribul, Shanahea, Cahircon and Effernan, plus a number of visitors from England and Australia. The main man behind the event was landowner Professor Michael Hayes. Sean Reidy sang the renowned song ‘The Hills of Aylroe'. The Cillín or childrens burial ground contains over one hundred graves all unidentified and going back centuries. The site is covered over mainly with gorse and furze and is a couple of hundred feet over sea-level. Fr. McGrath gave a very meaningful homily and said prayers for the unbaptized, the abandoned and forgotten children. He also remembered the locals who had bereavements over recent months. Professor Hayes thanked all who helped make the day a great success.

Very Rev. Fr. Tom McGrath and Professor Ml. Hayes at the Aylroe Cillin.
